Life Sciences NY – 2023 Annual Conference October 11, 2023
Greg Pepe participated in the panel titled “It Takes a Village-Connecting to the Assets and Resources You Need”. The panel of public and private professionals focused on connecting life science businesses and entrepreneurs to funding, technical, corporate, and regulatory expertise that is needed to succeed as a life science start-up or growing company.

Tripti Thapa Gupta, a Senior Scientist at Garwood Medical Devices, gave a talk about her career path at the University of Buffalo Innovation Center Friday, September 22. She shared her insights and experiences with graduate students and postdocs who are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship. Tripti also discussed the challenges and opportunities of working in the medical device industry.
SolidWorks Certifications
Congratulations to Jackson Hobble who achieved his Associate Level SolidWorks Certification (CSWA) today! He nailed the exam with a perfect score! Jackson, who was recently appointed as Engineering Manager, is not stopping there, as he is already preparing for the SolidWorks Professional Certification (CSWP) and then the SolidWorks Expert Certification (CSWE).
We are proud to announce that Morgan Schnee has successfully passed the Associate Level SolidWorks Certification, CSWA. Morgan, who was recently appointed as a Mechanical Engineer, is now pursuing the next level of certification, the SolidWorks Certified Professional (CSWP), and ultimately the SolidWorks Certified Expert, (CSWE). We commend Morgan for her dedication and excellence!

Please join us in congratulating Morgan Schnee on her promotion to the role of Mechanical Engineer, effective Monday, September 11th. Morgan has been a valuable member of the GMD team for nearly 2 years, and has shown exceptional abilities, innovation, and commitment in every assignment. Morgan will be in charge of creating, improving, and evaluating mechanical systems and devices. She will work under the supervision of Jackson Hobble.
We are delighted to announce that Jackson Hobble has been promoted to Engineering Manager, reporting to Greg Pepe. Jackson’s promotion became effective on Monday, August 14, 2023. Morgan Schnee, Mechanical Engineer, will report to Jackson in his new role. Jackson Hobble has a Bachelors and Masters in Biomedical Engineering from the University at Buffalo. Jackson is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of patients. He uses his expertise in orthopedic material science, electrochemistry, and orthopedic physiology to enhance the performance of Garwood’s key platforms and technology.
Team GMD Step-Up Walking Challenge
We are excited to announce the results of our 50-week Walking Challenge, a Garwood Medical EHS wellness initiative that encouraged our GMD Team to stay active and healthy. The challenge was inspired by Highmark’s 6 Week Route 66 Walking Challenge, which we participated in and enjoyed so much that we decided to extend it for almost a year! Each week, we tracked our steps using trackers and vied for the top spot. We want to applaud Mary Canty, who walked a staggering 3,567,166 steps in the last 44 weeks of the challenge, securing her 1st place rank 28 out of 44 weeks and overall! Wayne Bacon was a strong runner-up with 3,421,877 steps, securing him first place rank 16 of 44 weeks. Way to go, Mary and Wayne!
Battle of the Badges Blood Drive Buffalo Firefighters helping save lives on and off the job.
Melanie, Morgan and Dorrie participated in the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive at the Johnnie B. Wiley Pavillion Event Center on March 30th. Donors were invited to vote for their favorite fire station.
