Dr. Altman received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and then completed the M.D-PhD program at the University of Buffalo, with his doctorate in molecular immunology from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He did his internship in medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital and completed his dermatology residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He did a fellowship in immunodermatology and clinical research at the Dermatology Branch of the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health and was a Lieutenant Commander in the Uniformed Services Medical Corps and taught at Bethesda Naval Medical Center. Dr. Altman then went on to Bristol-Myers Squibb where he rose to the Executive Director and head of Dermatology Worldwide Clinical Research & Development. He then cofounded and was the VP of Clinical Affairs & Development of Beauty Genome Sciences-Beauty Medicines, Inc., a biotechnology-based dermatology drug development startup company in the Boston area. Dr. Altman returned to Western New York and founded Altman Dermatology, PC, engaging in the private practice of dermatology and dermatologic surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and has published and lectured on drug development in dermatology and served as a consultant to Astellas, Novartis, Warner-Chilcott, Merck, Gillette, and Athenex pharmaceutical companies.
