Associate ScientistJacob Opalinski , joined the team at Garwood Medical in March 2021 as an intern Lab Technician, reporting to Mary Canty, PhD. In September Jacob accepted a permanent role on the team as Associate Scientist. Jacob brought 4 years of medical industry experience to his new role. Jacob is responsible for conducting in vitro testing of the BioPrax devices on different bacterial strains. Prior to joining the GMD team, Jacob worked as a Lab Technician / Intern for a local startup company. Jacob holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Jacob earned his Master’s in Biomedical Engineering at UB. Jacob is a WNY Property Fellow and is a four-time recipient of the Barbara and Jack Davis Scholarship. When Jacob is not in the lab he enjoys cooking, he legit makes the best cheesecake in town. Jacob spends his summers as a volunteer soccer coach for 10–13-year-olds.
